ACCURATE SENTENCE STRUCTURES: SIMPLE/ COMPOUND/ COMPLEX - CONJUNCTIONS

I guide my students through the colour-coded sentences - simple/ compound/ complex and complex-compound sentences. This way they are constructing their sentences and understand logically what the main clause and co/sub-ordinating clauses are too. All of my students can explain the differences between them with ease! Once the understanding is secure, this process can be transferred in all their writing. This lesson is so important for students throughout their education, in their exams and beyond! They always enjoy and remember it. IT REALLY WORKS!
LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES & DEVICES: definitions and purpose

LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES & DEVICES: definitions and purpose

This is my favourite resource! I use this resource with all of my students and it really works! In no time, all of my students know all 14 + language devices off by heart and can comment on their purpose and effect. I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs but this is how I use them. Cut and Stick activity. Acronym: MATE PROOFREADS! 1. Fold and glue along the heading the tabs 2. Match with the definitions and the purpose & effects - stick these underneath each tab. Valuable tool to use in the classroom to teach the techniques, use as a revision tool and/or use as a checklist for creative writing. BELIEVE ME, IT WORKS!
